pie crust


ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup crisco vegetable shortening
    (chill the crisco in the freezer for about 15 minutes)
  • 3-4 tbsp ice water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
instructions:
  1. sift flour and salt into a mixing bowl.
  2. using a pastry mixer, cut crisco into flour mixture.
  3. pour 3 tbsp of water over dough and mix with fork until blended.
  4. place dough in saran wrap and flatten into a circle with your hands.
  5. chill for 15 minutes.
  6. remove from saran wrap and place on well-floured surface.
  7. using a floured rolling pin roll out to a disc about 14 inches in diameter.
  8. then transfer to pie pan and trim the edge.
